Your Panama City Budget

By Jane Goodwin | September 12, 2007

Panama City is one of the most beautiful and modern cities in all of Central America. It has the Canal, of course, but it has much, much more!

Besides the beauty, convenience, English, shopping, and other essentials, I want to point out that a frugal person can live well in Panama City for very little money indeed.

Little wonder that so many American and Canadian retirees are choosing Panama, and Panama City, as their retirement destinations.

Now, if you like to live in STYLE, and are a big spender, you’ll have to adjust this budget somewhat, but if you’re of average means and are seeking an outstandingly beautiful place in which to live out the rest of your life (even if you’re still in your twenties!) (You might qualify for Pensionado in your teens!) check out the possibilities in Panama City:

Two-bedroom apartment, rental - $800.00/month - or LESS.

Utilities - $300.00/month - or LESS.

Health care - $150.00/month - or LESS. If you’ve got some serious health problems, it might be more.

Internet/phone/cable, etc - $100.00 - or LESS. ISP.”>Sometimes, the internet is free.

Food - $250.00/month - or LESS. (especially if you take advantage of the Farmer’s Markets, and shop locally!)

If you feel you must have a car, it will cost you, too. Gas alone will run approximately $150.00/month, and with prices rising hourly, probably more. Ride the bus!

Figure in your little pleasures and incidentals yourself.

To sum up, Panama City is a bargain. Not as inexpensive as some other Panama cities, but a bargain nonetheless.

And the scenery is free.
