The Belize Belikin Fest Has Begun!

Have you moved to Belize yet? If you’re already there, the Belikin Fest has begun! It will run until September 16th, and you really ought to go. What’s that? You don’t know what ‘Belikin’ is? After you’ve lived in Belize for a while, you’ll know. Belikin Beer is a lager, probably more like a Busch than anything else. The bottle holds 9.6 oz, and it’s just about the perfect beer for this warm climate.
Sponsored by the Bowen and Bowen group of companies, the Belikin Fest is part of the September Celebrations in Belize.
According to Bowen and Bowen manager David Craig, “Once again for the 26th anniversary of Belize’s Independence,we’re celebrating the Belizean Belikin Bash 2007.The management of the Belize Brewing Company believes that producing an event like this,which is basically a seven day free concert is one way of showing our customers how much we appreciate their tremendous support that they’ve given us over the years.This year,we’re going to do five nights in Belize City at the Memorial Park. Starting tonight,September 12th-16th. And then we take the show on the sea, to two more nights at the Central Park in San Pedro Town at La Isla Bonita. That would be the 18th and 19th of next week.”
Craig says this year will be filled with lots of entertainment for the entire family.
Bowen and Bowen Merchandising Manager David Craig says that “We have a food court set up with a tremendous variety of foods. We’re going to have tacos,pizza,fried chicken, local foods, Belizean rice and beans, everything you can get out there.You can bring the entire family. On stage every night,solid entertainment. We try not to have any breaks in between. Tonight for example,we’re featuring starting at six o’clock we’re going to have Dj Fabulous with EZB. They play for an hour and then Kenny G and the New Creation Band, who are the winners for the Belikin Battle of the Bands that just happened on Saturday, they’re going to be on for two sets,and then Gilharry 7 is also going to be playing two sets.It’s going to be repeating again tomorrow and then we’ll be bringing in new artists on Friday,Saturday and Sunday.New artist like Jade,we’re going to bring in the Dignitariz on Saturday and New Rebels and then Tagg Intl’ is also going to be there along with Youth Connection on Sunday. In San Pedro,we’re going to feature Electra Sounds, we’re going to be taking Kenny G and the New Creation out there along with Dj Fabulous. We’re also going to use some local artists like DNA in San Pedro.The group of companies is also pulling off two huge fireworks displays. One of them is going to be on September 20th in Belize City and then we’re also going to have one on September 19th in San Pedro starting at nine o’clock on both nights.”
On all nights the event starts at six p.m. and runs until midnight
