Sunrise in Belize Is Truly A Thing Of Splendor

By Jane Goodwin | September 17, 2007

Retirees in Belize notice something different about the dawn: it doesn’t last very long!

Belize is very close to the equator; therefore, the sun rises really fast. If you blink, you’ll miss it! Many people who live in Belize are up well before the dawn, conducting business, sipping coffee, just so they might see this amazing sunrise splendor. Kipling was never in Belize, but his line “. . . the sun comes up like thunder. . . .” might well have been said about Belize.

The sunrise is only one wonderful thing about living in Belize. Ask any retiree or expat and he/she will tell you the same thing: everything in Belize is good. It’s not just the low price of almost everything, either. True, bananas are eight for a dollar, as are plantains, and while bananas are everywhere in the States, plantains are harder to find and a lot more expensive. Not in Belize!

What are these “plantains” everyone in Belize is so crazy about? Stop by this blog tomorrow, and I’ll tell you!
