Relocating to Belize? Mexico? Panama? Costa Rica? Dominican Republic? Guatemala? Honduras? Nicaragua? SLOW DOWN!

Planning to relocate to a Central American country to take advantage of the beauty, the prices, the incredible health care, and the lovely, friendly people?

It’s true: all of those things are there.

To be able to thoroughly take advantage of them and enjoy your new life in Central America, however, you must also do your part. You must. . . . slow down. You must adapt.

Yes, almost everyone speaks English in Central America, but words don’t always mean what the dictionary says they should mean.

Yes, you can get almost anything in Central America that you could get in the States, but it might take longer. In Central America, people are not in a hurry. Everything is laid back, including businesses and timetables. If the sign at the bus stop says “3:00,” be there at three but don’t expect the bus until four. That’s just how it is. It’s not for the country to change; it’s for you to adapt.

Perhaps “adapt” is the right word.

But I assure you, it’s well worth it. Beauty such as you’ve never experienced. . . and when I say ‘beauty’ I am referring to both the geography and the people.

So relax. Enjoy your new life in Central America. You know you already love it! Just remember, the repairman isn’t late until it’s a full hour past the appointed time.
