Playa Solmar: Whale-Watching and Relaxing and Beautiful Scenery Galore
By Jane Goodwin | March 27, 2007
Did you ever see anything so cool and comfortable on the beach (or on your deck!) before?
Now, imagine that you are relaxing in this incredible Gloster chair on Playa Solmar in Mexico, watching the violent Pacific waves crashing off the rocks and occasionally dozing because the sound is at once relaxing and refreshing and invigorating? You won’t get sunburned, either; the Gloster shield will protect your skin.
At Playa Solmar, the sea is too violent for swimming, but the beach is perfect for relaxing, watching, shell-gathering, and long walks. The views are stupendous. There are several excellent resorts here, too.
Remember, though: gorgeous as the beaches are, it’s far too dangerous to try to swim here. The undertows are the strongest in the world, and the waves travel in sets and grow huge in seconds. So, no swimming. Don’t even try to wade. Save that for your hotel pool. Use the beaches for relaxation and whale-watching.
That’s right: whale-watching. We have whales here. You can see them from the beach.
Whales, but no lifeguards. You’re on your own, safety-wise, but that’s okay, because you’re not going to go into the water, right? Right.
Also, there’s no driving on any Mexican beach. Park in the lot and walk to the beach. Bring your own water, snacks, TOILET PAPER, and anything else you might want or need. Carry all litter back with you; Mexico is trying to be green.
You won’t need all that much, though. Once you relax and start your intensive sunning, dozing, reading, whale-watching,, and view-aahing, there wouldn’t be time for peripherals, anyway.
Bring sunscreen.
