Dominican Republic Amber and Larimar: Just Simply Beautiful

By Jane Goodwin | November 1, 2007

The World Tourism Organization has named The Dominican Republic one of the hottest Caribbean destinations, and it’s easy to understand why!

The climate, the culture, the friendly people, the warm welcome extended to expats and retirees, the beaches. . . there are just too many wonderful things about the Dominican Republic to mention!

The Dominican Republic also has the most beautiful amber to be found. Remember the amber in the movie Jurassic Park? That’s what I’m talking about here. Beautiful golden amber. In fact, the north coast of the DR is nicknamed The Amber Coast.

Dominican amber is one of the most popular items bought and sold here. If you’re lucky, you might even come across an item made of both amber and larimar! “Happy Hour” is found only in the Dominican Republic.

Amber is a hot commodity in the Dominican Republic. Cost depends, naturally, on the quality and color. If there’s “something” trapped inside, it costs a bit more, of course.

I don’t think anybody is going to be cloning any dinosaurs any time soon, though.
