By Jane Goodwin | July 9, 2007

Susan Haskins, of International Living’s Costa Rica First Alert, has this news for people who are thinking about flying down to Costa Rica: Delta Airlines has some deals for you!

“Delta Airlines has announced two new direct flights to Costa Rica starting February 2008, departing from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The flights depart New York City with destination to the cities of San José (the capital) and Liberia.

The first flight departs February 15, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from JFK and arrives at the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San José at 2:49 p.m. That flight will run every day of the week except Wednesday and Saturday. Travelers to New York from Costa Rica can catch the return flight on the same days, leaving Costa Rica at 3:49 p.m. and arriving in New York at 9:54 p.m.

Flights from JFK to Liberia will depart Wednesdays and Saturdays, leaving at 9:55 a.m. and touching down in Costa Rica at 2:40 p.m. The return flight departs from Liberia the same days at 3:30 pm, and arrives in New York at 9:45 p.m. The inaugural flight will depart February 16, 2008.

In 2002, Delta pioneered daily international flights from Atlanta to the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, capital of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province and an increasingly popular destination. With the new flights, Delta will fly to Liberia 13 times a week, from Los Angeles, Atlanta, and now, New York City.

The new flights to San José up Delta’s weekly trips there to 22. Passengers on the new flight from JFK to San José will travel on a Boeing 757 that seats 183, while passengers headed for Liberia from JFK will ride a Boeing 738 with room for 150.”
