Belize and Costa Rica: Two of the Most Popular Honeymoon Spots in the World

By Jane Goodwin | April 19, 2007

According to CNNMoney.com, Belize and Costa Rica are two of the most popular honeymoon spots in the world right now. It’s easy to see why, too.

Traditionally, honeymooners spend more money and stay a lot longer than vacationers, and they are also on the lookout for romantic, "different" resorts and hotels in which to spend their honeymoon. Well, both Belize and Costa Rica can fulfill these requirements, and add a beach to the equation as well.

Maybe you didn’t know that Francis Ford Coppola, of "Godfather" fame, owns the Turtle Inn in Belize. Honeymooners adore the little thatched villas. Set on 650 feet of beach near a small fishing village, the honeymoon cottages, each with a private garden and Japanese bath, cost approximately $400.00 per night.

The Four Seasons Resort, in Costa Rica, is at Peninsula Papagayo, and has a championship golf course as well as four restaurants, a lounge, a spa, and two beaches. The Four Seasons Resort costs approximately $650.00 per night.

There are, of course, hundreds of beautiful hotels that cost far less, as well as several that cost far more, but these two are, right now, among the most popular in the honeymooners’ set.

I can understand that. Just LOOK at these two places. Sigh.

Beautiful, aren’t they. Truly, there is Mayan Magic afoot in both places.
